The Imperial Expeditionary Brigades were created by Imperial decret shortly after Jamyl Sarum's return in YC 110. They were formed as an complimentary element for the Imperial Navy in order to test and improve non standard tactics and equipment in the war.

Not sharing the highly valuated reputation of the regular Imperial Navy and neither offering adequate career possibilities for Imperial Officers the Expeditionary attracted personnel of rather doubtful heritage and integrity.

This lead to some questionnable standard operating procedures and traditions inside the Expeditionaries. Although having a highly efficient military track record they soon became the focus of public critic.

The 7th Imperial Expeditionary Brigade took a prominent role among these units being the target of serious infiltration by various religious heretic groups. All this lead finally to the decommission of the Imperial Expeditionary Brigades by Empress Sarum in YC 114.

Some elements of these units are still rumoured to be active in the Minmatar-Amarrian Warzone, following their own, so far unknown agenda.
